On Friday, May 17, 2024, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York is hosting a hybrid book event celebrating the launch of “What’s Possible: Investing NOW for Prosperous, Sustainable Neighborhoods.” This book — a collection of essays exploring the intersection of community development and climate resilience — is the result of a collaboration between Enterprise Community Partners, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, the New York Fed, and RMI. The collection includes an introduction by Catherine Coleman Flowers, an RMI board member.

Laura LoSciuto, Manager for Carbon-Free Transportation at RMI, will speak on a panel at Circularity 2024 focused on EV battery circularity, along with panelists from Ascend Elements, UL Standards & Engagement, and Alliance for Automotive Innovation. The conversation will focus on what is being done to accelerate EV battery recycling and other circular practices and how this impacts the global race to net-zero.

This session introduces the emerging field of near zero- and zero-emissions concrete technologies. Speakers cover fundamentals for a set of promising concrete innovations and set the stage for how Departments of Transportation (DOTs) can explore application of these in pilot projects.

On the international stage, COP29 will return to a petrostate in Azerbaijan while dozens of countries are facing shifting climate policy priorities. RMI's Brian O'Hanlon is giving the keynote presentation at GreenFin 2024, the premier event for sustainable finance professionals harnessing the power of capital markets to realize a net-zero economy. In addition, Shravan Bhat, manager for RMI's Center for Climate-Aligned Finance, is moderating a workshop, “Lessons for Financing Commercial-Scale Clean Industrial Projects.”
